Can You Support Our Campaign to Bring The Daniella Logun Hospice To Life -
A Children's Hospice/Home-Away-From-Home for Hillingdon & the Surrounding Areas?
For Children & Young People diagnosed with brain tumours, other cancers and their families.
Thinking about child deaths, life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses in children and young people is too difficult. However, did you know that there is currently no hospice or end-of-life facility for children and young people in Hillingdon or the surrounding areas? Every parent deserves an opportunity to choose how and where they want their child's care delivered, especially at end-of-life. Parents with children in this cohort of patients, who request hospice care at end-of-life will need to travel farther out to receive this type of care, or have to settle for at home or hospital end-of-life care, should they have no other alternative.
We are dreaming of a better future that will make things easier for children at end-of-life, their parents and families around them. Can you help the us realise our dream of building a specialist home with End-Of-Life care facilities exclusive for Children & Young People diagnosed with cancers and their families.
Imagine this, a home-away-from-home, surrounded by nature, tranquil, spacious and well resourced with end-of-life medical facilities...?
A place where children and young people diagnosed with brain tumours, other cancers/life limiting illnesses and their families, can live out the rest of their lives in dignity whilst receiving the specialist care they need.
The Challenge
When Dannie was diagnosed in 2016, the nearest children's hospice was outside the borough and over half an hour away. Dannie's family did not feel comfortable making this journey and chose to look after Dannie at home. This was a difficult choice and one currently faced by our Cherry Blossom families and the families of children and young people diagnosed with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses in this locality. This is a significant undertaking and we need your help to improve this situation. There are 304, 082 thousand people living in Hillingdon. If every one donated £5 each, we could raise £1,520,410 to fund a local service and/or pay for beds in the nearest medical hospice setting.
Investing in a hospice within the London Borough of Hillingdon and the surrounding areas, will ensure our children are not lost for hospice options and this decision is easier for their families.
