Dannie's Story

Our beautiful daughter. Our blue diamond. The reason we do what we do.

Daniella Logun, known to her family as Dannie, passed away from a brain tumour in 2016. The Daniella Logun Foundation was founded in her memory, and in the hope that no other family would walk this road alone.

The first signs were small

Dannie was a fit, healthy young girl. In 2015, she began to have what seemed at the time to be nothing more than a minor problem with her eyes. There was no obvious reason for concern, and for weeks nothing else seemed wrong.

Her sight kept getting worse. When we were eventually referred to the local children's A&E, an MRI was carried out almost as a precaution. It revealed a growth in her brain.

That was the day everything changed.

In 2016, Dannie left us

Dannie passed away in 2016. She was surrounded by love, and she had been extraordinary throughout, in ways we still cannot always find the words for.

Why we founded the Daniella Logun Foundation

During Dannie's diagnosis and treatment, we noticed something the medical system was not set up to address. Families around us were exhausted, isolated, and afraid. The clinical care was excellent, and there were charities doing important work at a national level. What we could not find was a local, holistic, family-led service walking alongside families day by day.

We founded the DLF to be that service. We built it out of caring for Dannie ourselves, and out of a first-hand understanding of the emotional, psychological, and social upheaval a childhood cancer diagnosis brings to a whole family.

Today, the DLF offers emotional, practical and spiritual wellbeing support to children with brain tumours and other cancers, and their families, across Hillingdon and the surrounding areas. Everything we do is shaped by what we learned during Dannie's journey, and by the families who trust us with theirs.

  • Family led, always.
  • Free at the point of need.
  • Hope, Faith & Love.

Dannie is still with us

In April 2023, we launched a portrait of Dannie so that the young people and families we support could put a face to the name of the charity walking alongside them. She is our blue diamond, our inspiration, and the daily reminder of why we do this.

Every food box delivered, every counselling session held, every family met at a drop-in, every bench in the ward garden, is part of her legacy. Every family we support carries a small piece of her forward.
