Elliot's story
Elliott was diagnosed with a Dnet brain tumour in the thalamus in 2020 β incidentally, while doctors were looking for complications of birth hypoxia. He also lives with ASD, ADHD, dyspraxia, hypermobility, and a history of absence seizures.
Elliott was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2020 β a Dnet in the thalamus. His diagnosis was incidental whilst the doctors were looking for complications of birth hypoxia.
In addition to all of this, Elliott is also diagnosed with ASD, ADHD, dyspraxia, hypermobility and a history of absence seizures. He carries a lot for a young boy.
Over the lockdown, it felt like his school had abandoned him and given up trying. He had no school education because they didnβt know what to do with him. He didnβt have any mental health referral. It just feels like weβve been dropped from a height.
The DLF have been beside us through all of it β helping us understand, helping us advocate, and reminding us weβre not alone in this.

Every child with a brain tumour deserves a school and a system that doesnβt give up on them. Weβre grateful for everyone helping us fight for that.famil
