Brain Tumour Awareness Month 2024

At the Houses of Parliament with Cllr Steve Tuckwell MP and Michele Afif (CEO Brain Tumour Charity) calling for a National Brain Tumour Strategy.

For Brain Tumour Awareness Month 2024, DLF was at the Houses of Parliament with Cllr Steve Tuckwell MP (Uxbridge and South Ruislip) and Michele Afif, CEO of The Brain Tumour Charity, to call for a National Brain Tumour Strategy.

Why we were there

Brain tumours are the leading cause of cancer-related death in children under 14 in the UK. While overall childhood cancer survival is rising, brain tumours still account for one-third of all childhood cancer deaths. This is unacceptable, and it needs a coordinated national response.

What we called for

  • A dedicated National Brain Tumour Strategy
  • Better funding for holistic wellbeing support for families
  • Improved early diagnosis pathways in primary care
  • Investment in research to improve outcomes for the deadliest childhood cancers

We also published our BTAM 2024 newsletter with families' stories, campaign updates, and ways to support our work. Thank you to everyone who took part.
